Save Our Southgate!
The Boundary Commission published their revised proposals and rejected our proposal for a constituency based on the old Enfield West seat, in favour of a new Southgate and Wood Green seat. Their proposal is that:
(a) Winchmore Hill ward would become part of the Edmonton constituency; (b) Grange Park ward would become part of the Enfield North constituency; and (c) the remaining bulk of the Enfield Southgate constituency would merge with four wards in Wood Green and become a new constituency of Southgate and Wood Green.
We must save our Enfield Southgate constituency. The residents of Winchmore Hill and Grange Park do not identify with Edmonton and Enfield North respectively – we need to act to help them and Save our Enfield Southgate.
What you can do: Please make written representations via Bcereviews.org.uk stating your objections to the proposed Southgate and Wood Green constituency.
The last date for representations is Monday 5th December 2022.
There are many reasons to object to their proposal, but you may want to think about these suggestions:
- There are no significant local ties between Cockfosters in the north and Wood Green in the south.
- The varied nature of the north and south of the proposed constituency would mean that the interests of one part of the constituency would always conflict with that of the other.
- The shape of the proposed constituency shows that this is just an infill between other constituencies. The Piccadilly Line link that the Commission makes, is a completely spurious link.
